Some Humans Are Awesome

This is just to follow up on the Mannie situation.

I received a call on Thursday from Metro Pet Market, where I purchase my dog and cat food, I was told that a couple unanimously and very generously donated a pile of gift certificates for Mannie's food!
I was completely blown away. I cried.
What a beautiful gesture!
They did say that there are so many cats that are looking for good homes, and Mannie has one, I've just run into a stumbling block, so to speak.

I'm so happy and relieved to keep her.
You have no idea.
Or maybe you do, I just hope that you don't.

I am living at my parents house till I'm able to buy my own place (separation agreement is complete, and my name is off the mortgage). Thankfully, my parents are not charging me rent. Phew!
Lawyers are p.r.i.c.e.y.!
I am doing a lot of housework, including my laundry. ;) Vacuuming, dusting, garbage, dishes, poop scooping, various tasks of caring for my nonhuman friends.
My Mom is pretty allergic to cats. Thus my anxiousness to get my own place.

All that being said, I won't need to use the gift certificates right away, but it's so nice to know that they're there once I'm paying my own mortgage(and extremely broke).

Mannie the cat needs a new home :(

I can't afford to care for Mannie. I've gone over my budget a number of times, and I'm very sad to say I can't afford a number of things.
  • Cable-which is totally fine, I'd actually prefer to not have it.
  • Security System-for when I'm able to buy a new home.
  • Land Line-I'll just use my cell phone. I have reduced my bill & plan, as well.
  • Car Payment-I don't plan on having one when I buy a car.

Other than that stuff, I'm doing cheap vegan meals.

I never thought I would be in this position. Of giving up my cat. It was the furthest thing from my mind when I first fostered her, then adopted her. But here I am.

<sigh> I can't give her the life she deserves. She is seriously the sweetest cat on the face of the planet.
When I'm hanging out with her, she reaches her paw out to touch my face. It's so freakin' sweet!!
She hasn't been declawed(ahem=mutilated), but she always very careful to not have them out. She's never scratched me.
She'll come with all of her gear. Her two litter boxes, four food bowls, pine litter, wet food, scratching posts, all of her numerous toys.

    Mannie Facts:

    short-haired blue merle
    not declawed
    about 5 years old
    spayed
    litter trained
eats high quality wet food twice a day

My graduated return to Great West Life

I began my return to Great-West Life two weeks ago.
It's going surprisingly well.

Fatigue is a problem (this is extremely common for people recovering from brain injuries). I've been retraining for the group health and dental insurance call centre. That was my full time job at the time of the collision, and SGI has to try to return me to what I was doing at that time.
Originally, I handled health, drugs, dental and health care spending account inquiries.
We're starting with dental.

It seriously wrinkles my brain that I can somehow remember all of these dental service codes! I mean, not all of them, but, an incredible amount. There are women that go on maternity leave for a year and don't remember this stuff, but for some reason, me, with a severe brain injury who hasn't been at work for more than two and a half years, remembers.

How the . . . hell . . . ?
Why do I remember that 01202 is a recall exam?! And 11114 is four units (15 minutes)of scaling?!
I haven't thought about those dental procedure codes for a long time. Seriously. WTF.

Back to fatigue!
Right now, I'm working two hours in the mornings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I was supposed to move to four hours next week, but just the two hours knocks me out for the rest of the day.
Wow! Long naps!!
So, we're sticking to two hours for the next couple of weeks.

Great-West Life has been very gracious in my return. My Acquired Brain Injury rep, Dixon, says that they've been the most accommodating of all the companies he's worked with in returning the brain injured.
They have been stellar.

Troy doesn't love me anymore...

This is what he tells me. He wants a divorce.
He's given me no other feedback, just that he doesn't love me.

We're in the process of separating our belongings.
I've been staying with my parents, along with Chaos and Mannie. Troy's keeping Mayhem.
It breaks my heart to separate them, but I can't help but be a bit selfish right now. Troy adores her, and I really can't take care of all of them on my own.

I very much feel like I'm 17 again, living with my parents, and not having a license. (I didn't bother getting my license till I was 17, all my friends drove.)

Troy's buying me out of the house. Which is fine, I don't want it.
So, as soon as the separation agreement is complete, I'm off the mortgage, and Troy pays me my half of everything(he's keeping the majority of our belongings), this is the plan:
  • See a mortgage broker about what I can afford.
  • Shop for a house with the help of a realtor.
  • Buy a house, still not certain I'm staying in Regina.
This is why I haven't blogged in so long.
My days have been filled with counseling appointments, and lawyer visits, driver assessments(I'll blog more about that another day-but I'll be getting my license again very soon!) and numerous other assessments for my return to work.
I also received an email from blogspot about their intention to change something(I can't figure out how to make the change they require) and I won't be able to log in after June 1st. If that is the case, my intention is to keep blogging on Tumblr.
